Jamie represents children’s books in all categories, with a focus on preschool, picture books, novelty, and real-world-based middle grade and YA. Genre interests include thrillers, science fiction, and speculative fiction.

Jamie looks for an intense emotional experience, in all categories. She's seeking manuscripts that stay with her. This could mean the sweet pang of an "I love you" picture book, or the shock of recognition of an honest window to the tween or teen psyche. For the younger age groups, she looks for the hook that will make a book a must-have parenting or educational resource.

Prior to joining Andrea Brown Literary Agency in 2008, Jamie was Conference Manager and Golden Kite Award Director at the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and prior to that held editorial positions at Random House Children’s Books and an internship at Henry Holt Books for Young Readers.

Jamie received her BA in English from Columbia University. She lives in Los Angeles with her family.

RECENT DEALS
Lamar Giles's untitled speculative fiction horror YA novel in which, after a global catastrophe, a teen discovers the world-famous vacation resort where he lives and works doubles as a luxury doomsday refuge for the cruel billionaires he's now trapped with, to Scholastic.

Salina Yoon's BUSY LITTLE LADYBUG, an interactive touch-and-feel novelty board book with a built-in handle, joining the first two in the On-The-Go series, BUSY LITTLE BEE and BUSY LITTLE FISHY, to Little Simon.

Megan E. Bryant's ABBY IN BETWEEN, an exploration of the early stages of puberty—the stuff before periods—pitched as the modern little sister's companion to ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME MARGARET, to Penguin Workshop in a two-book deal.

Debut author Nicole Chen’s picture book HOW WE SAY I LOVE YOU, in which a Taiwanese American girl reflects on how her family expresses the love they feel for each other through their actions rather than their words, to Knopf, at auction.

Chiêu Anh Urban’s board book series ILLUSIONS IN ART, that introduces the concept of negative space in art, using animals and food as subjects, in a two-book deal, to Candlewick.

Author-illustrator Janee Trasler's FROG AND DOG, a fully-illustrated early reader series pitched as bringing the humor and simple vocabulary of HOP ON POP and FOX IN SOCKS for today's readers, to Scholastic Acorn, in a three-book deal.
THINGS I LOVE:

Frisson

Selected Shorts

Poetry Unbound (podcast)

Coffee, tea, all beverages

The Bourne movies

I love stories that make me cry (but generally prefer to save dead bodies for thrillers). Instead of sad character deaths, I love a good cry from an insightful, heart-walloping, nuanced exploration of the universal human experience.
REPRESENTATIVE TITLES
I love subtly unreliable narrators, plot twists, and tearjerkers.
