Calef Brown

Calef's first book of verse, Polkabats and Octopus Slacks, was published in 1998. Since then he’s written and illustrated a dozen more, including Flamingos on the Roof, which was a #1 New York Times bestseller. His works have received numerous accolades and awards, including a Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Honor Award and The Lion and the Unicorn Award for Children’s Poetry, and have been featured on NPR's Weekend Edition. Calef's illustrations have appeared in publications like Newsweek, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, and Time. He lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island.
