Serena Mercado

Serena (she/they) is a freelance illustrator from Orlando who has always been entranced by folklore, fashion, art history, and all things supernatural. Much of her work is deeply rooted in nostalgia, capturing the childlike wonder her favorite illustrations made her feel growing up. Serena aims to create the representation she would have loved to have as a kid by incorporating people of color into stories and fantasy settings where they don’t often get to see themselves. Most of her free time is spent badly crocheting and getting lost in antique shops.
